Building Flavor the Natural Way

H

eartland Foodie family, I’m sure you’ve experienced all of the headaches with shopping in the commercial supply chain – it’s become so overwhelming to pay attention to where our food is grown, how it’s raised, what it’s fed. Not to mention, who to trust. That’s why you joined the Heartland Foodie family in the first place, isn’t it?

Anyhow, we still ask the question – why does our food taste so good? The short answer: We’re involved in every step of the process, from start to finish. We call this comprehensive integration “Farm-to-Freezer” to make it easy to understand. We believe wholeheartedly in the Farm-to-Freezer Lifestyle! It is our mission to provide all-natural, hormone and antibiotic-free meats, wild-caught, sustainable seafood and field-grown, organic fruits and veggies, harvested at the peak of perfection all of which is then flash-frozen, delivered and stocked in your freezer ready to feed you and your family.

With many choices for buying food online we are proud to be one of the best options for families looking to find a source of high-quality meats and vegetables delivered to your home. Read on to learn more about our unique approach to sourcing and how the farmer and ranchers we partner with at Heartland Foods are different from other frozen food companies.

Almost all of our all-natural and organic meats and vegetables come single-source, from top-quality farms located right here in the good old USA. Although, we do have a few other sources due to our high-quality standards. For example, seafood and various exotics come from all over the world depending on where the highest quality products can be sourced from.

Finding quality food means finding quality farms. We only source from farms that meet our rigorous quality standards. When we can work with a local farm we do. For example, our poultry comes from a family farm in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. While local is important to us, the very best quality for our families and yours is most important. Heres Why Our Food Tastes so Good – The Farms

Our Beef:

Creekstone Farms is known for being one of the leading purveyors in superior Black Angus Beef. They have a long-standing commitment to the animals in their beef program with the greatest compassion and respect. This commitment to humane care and treatment is also at the core of every interaction with their animals, from how they are raised, to what they are fed, to how they are processed. We hope you can feel good about feeding your family the very best quality beef from Heartland Foods.

Our Chicken:

Murray’s Chickens are raised on family farms in the rolling hills of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The birds are processed just over the New York state line in the Catskill Mountain region of Sullivan County. By partnering with a select number of family farms Murray’s helps to strengthen local economies and protects small farmers by allowing them to focus solely on the exceptional quality and taste of the Murray’s Chickens they grow. Unlike many others in our industry, Murray’s Chickens is family-owned – their commitment is to great tasting, healthy chicken not to shareholder demands.

Our Pork:

Cheshire Farms At Cheshire Pork® has had the advantage of more than 45 years of selective breeding by choosing only the top 3% of our heritage breeds, which is what gives our pork superior flavor, consistency in texture, and marbling. For the past 40 years, the Ivey family has been raising heritage breed hogs on the family farm in Seven Springs, North Carolina. They have selectively bred a herd of Chester White hogs that is widely known for its intramuscular fat and the superior taste that this fat imparts. This pork is richly colored, well marbled, and always juicy.

Our Seafood:

True North Seafood’s ancestors began fishing the waters of the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia six generations ago. And while times have changed, they are proud to spend our days living and working alongside our neighbors and friends in coastal communities to produce the freshest seafood imaginable. To True North, the ocean is more than a source of seafood—it’s a source of pride. They believe the health of our communities depends on the health of the ocean. And that’s why we’re willing to do whatever it takes to ensure long-term social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Open Blue Cobia is a delicious fish, that’s sustainably raised, packed with nutrition and flavor. Prized for its fresh, clean flavor and rich, buttery texture, Cobia is also an exceptionally forgiving fish for the home chef with a high oil content that keeps it succulent and moist whether it’s grilled, baked, or sautéed. As a world pioneer in open ocean farming, Open Blue operates in harmony with natural surroundings far away from crowded coastal waters and sensitive ecosystems. Open Blue sites are carefully chosen to avoid displacing other marine life and a 2,500-acre protected “no take” zone has been created, home only to Open Blue Cobia and indigenous marine species like the magnificent whale shark.

Carefully sourcing our meats from farmers and ranchers we trust and whose animals are pasture-raised, free of antibiotics and steroids; our seafood sources that are committed to raising fish in the open ocean while working to take care of the delicate ecosystem hasn’t been easy. But that attention to detail, from start to finish, is the way we honor the vision we have set forth and the work that hundreds of people put into producing the perfect Heartland Foods experience.

Our customers know the excitement that comes from seeing the Heartland Foods delivery truck. When our product arrives safely to your home, we’re excited too. Our job isn’t over yet. If you have any questions or concerns about your order, product or how to prepare each cut or item, we’re here to help.
